The Charities
CRIAMAR is the main beneficiary of the car-boot sale, all gate receipts go directly to this charity. It is an Association of Social Security for the Development & Support of Children and Youths. The charity lends sustainable support to other social institutions that strive to fulfil similar goals through the creation of social and cultural ideas and projects, particularly with respect to children and youths.
The Lar da Paz Boys Home at Agua da Pena hosted the car-boot sale between July 2007 and November 2009. They will continue to benefit directly from the sale of items originally donated for their cause. Any items donated in the future may be specified for any of the charities that we currently support.
The Sunshine Project has recently been set up, under the umbrella of CRIAMAR, by Snr João Carlos Spinola to help teenagers that find themselves too old for the orphanage and too young for work.
This is the age that many young men make life-changing decisions and it is the Sunshine Project’s aim to ensure that there is a positive path for them to follow amongst the many pitfalls that surround them.http://www.criamar.ptshapeimage_16_link_0
The Organisers
Snr João Carlos Spinola heads up the team and works behind the scenes by organising and delegating. His influential social connections and history of charity work makes things happen. He can be contacted here.
Steve Bradshaw is the car-boot fanatic that oversees the monthly events, greatly aided by his wife, Julie. They can be contacted here. Steve also maintains this website with help from Snr. Spinola’s assistant, Dr.ª Flàvia Sousa, who translates text into Portuguese and fulfils the role of secretary for the Sunshine Project and Robert Erens, Olivero and Bernd Lehmann who take care of German translations.
The Car-boot sale is only possible with the help of volunteers, many have given up their time in the past and still support us today.
Anyone that feels they have something to offer our campaign, with sponsorship, help at the events, donations of saleable items or even ideas and suggestions, please contact one of the organisers.mailto:joao.spinola@pestana.com?subject=Car-bootmailto:madtshirt@mac.com?subject=Car-boot%20salemailto:robert@netmadeira.commailto:Olivero%20%3Cmadeira@olivero.de%3E?subject=Madeira%20Floh-Marktmailto:Bernd%20Lehmann%20%3Cbernd.lehmann65@yahoo.de%3E?subject=Madeira%20Floh-Marktshapeimage_17_link_0shapeimage_17_link_1shapeimage_17_link_2shapeimage_17_link_3shapeimage_17_link_4

For the sake of transparency, all future funds raised at the car-boot sale will be posted here.

You can monitor the progress of each charity, in euros, as they accumulate from each event.

A big ‘thank you’ to everyone who has helped or taken part in Madeira’s car-boot sale!
